Your outdoor living space should be just as fun to decorate as the inside of your home. Wondering where to start? Natural elements always make a great addition, here are some ideas to start.
Fire
A fireplace is the perfect gathering spot all year round and can double as a sitting area when you add chairs or an outdoor sofa. You can also try adding torches along walkways or decorative lanterns.
Air
To add air elements, wind chimes in your yard, trees, or on your porch are great additions. If you'd rather not have the sound element, you can add decorative spinners to show wind movement.
Earth
The outdoors are usually already surrounded by nature, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add more! Try adding hanging plants, potted trees, plant flowers, or add a decorative herb garden.
Water
Water features add tranquility and peace. Small water features are good for in between chairs. Large water features are good for a larger sitting area, like a small pond or Koi pond.
Although you can't add it to your square footage, your outdoor living space is important and should be treated like the interior of your home. If you need help creating the home of your dreams, call Adolfson Interior Design at (651) 468-6208 or email kirstin.h@comcast.net.
