The holidays are approaching which means it’s time to decorate. Here are some decorating tips that will boost your holiday spirits and make your guests ask how you did it!
Before you start gathering all of your decorations together, it is important to choose some colors that you want to work with. It’s easy to get carried away with too many colors over the holidays. This can lead to your decor not flowing together like it should. Some popular color choices this year are nudes, burgundy, emerald green, white and black. These colors will create more of a modern look. If a simple modern look isn't your thing, try picking a bright color and pairing it with some neutral colors. This will create a fun feel, but keep it flowing together at the same time. Too many overwhelming colors can cause your decorations to clash or be too overwhelming.
Once you have your color scheme picked out, it’s time for the decorations. A great place to start is with the garland. Great looking garland can turn any fireplace, staircase or door frame from bland to interesting. This year, eucalyptus garland is taking a rise. If you want a simple look or you are working with a smaller surface, eucalyptus garland is a perfect choice. If you are working with bigger surface areas or you want a more traditional look, pine garland will do the trick. Placing decorations around your garland will bring it all together. Bottle brush. trees are a great option. You can play around with the different heights and they aren't too distracting from the garland. Try spacing out your decorations about 5-6 inches apart to avoid a cluttered look.

Next comes the stockings, but what are we going to hang them with? Make sure to pick a stocking that will match with the stocking hook that you choose. There are a variety of different stocking hook styles that you can choose from. If you want to add some texture to your simple modern look, or a more high-end look, a shiny metal stocking hook would be perfect. If you want a simple hook that doesn't take away from your stockings, a marble hook will do the job.
To top everything off, you have to include a countdown! There are many great styles to choose from. You can go with a fabric countdown, a wooden one or chalk board. Choose a countdown that best fits the other decorations in your home. This will add some fun and keep you looking forward to the upcoming holidays.
