This 70s pattern has gotten its second (or third? Or fourth?) wind and resurfaced a few years ago for its millennial redux. Now, checkerboard is everywhere. While the classic, high-contrast print that comes in black-and-white isn’t exactly for everyone, there are more recent adaptions that you can try in your home.
Checkered Bedding
This 100% percent cotton sateen bedding is an abstract take on the checkerboard. When coupled with a light beige palette, it’s cool enough to convert even the firmest believers in all-white bedding.
Checkered Tile
A checkerboard tile installation gives an unexpected burst of color and pattern. A refreshing departure from the standard application of a checkered tile floor, this showcases just how versatile, whimsical, and contemporary checkers can be.
Checkered Side Table
Tiled tables are back! Make a statement by using a checkered table as a pedestal for potted plants or nightstand, like this side table and legs by Willow. Its monochromatic blue palette is refreshing, and while it may be subtle in tone, it packs in a punch on the design front.
Checkered Throw Pillows
You can never go wrong with throwing a patterned throw pillow into the mix. If you have a monochromatic palette, a checkered pillow will add the perfect splash of color and pattern.
